The Arqualea project was born during the summer of 2020. It was conceived and developed as a treasure hunt 2.0 during the second half of the year, finally being launched on December 31, 2020.

During the first months before the competition itself, more than 11,000 players signed up for this new competition genre, mixing the twisted riddles of treasure hunting and the concept of ranking more akin to Esport.

Introducing Arqualea Season 1

During this pre-season, players trained on low-difficulty riddles, time-limited daily riddles, and specific events to earn in-game assistance.

The regular season, which kicked off on June 23rd, 2021, had players competing on ten weekly published riddles. It ended on September 8, 2021, with a young woman from the Rhône region (France) winning a little more than €6,000 in profits. The first season has validated the tremendous interest for riddle games and the format. It also allowed our team to get to know the community better, leading up to the “Miren” project, as presented here.
